  MEGHAN RANDOLPH

Arts Administration

Like probably a lot of people, Meghan came into arts administration by accident.  Determined to create a professional musical theatre in Madison, Wisconsin, she found herself learning, out of necessity, about the complex world of running an arts organization...and fell in love with that world.

Meghan founded MTM in 2005 with the goal of producing professional musical theatre in Madison. Since then she has led the company through twelve seasons, helping it to become one of very few companies in the United States to focus specifically on lesser-known, seldom-performed musicals and the development of new works. As of 2017, the company has produced 19 Madison premieres, 12 Wisconsin premieres, two Midwest premieres, and one world premiere, as well as several readings.  The 2017-2018 season features the company's second Festival of New Musicals (only the second in the entire Midwest), a second, commissioned world premiere by a young composer, a Wisconsin premiere, and a curated revue focused on female voices in musical theatre.  She has produced all 30 shows in MTM’s history, directed more than half, and appeared in several. She has also planned and presented numerous outreach concerts and free events in an effort to keep musical theatre accessible to as much of Madison as possible. Her partnership efforts have included work with local libraries, community centers, and minority-centered organizations.

Meghan also works as the Marketing Director for SAIL, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of senior citizens through stewardship, social opportunities, and education. Previously, she worked for the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation, where she managed donor relations, marketing, and event planning. Meghan is the founder of the Voices Theatre, where she has partnered with the Wisconsin Innocence Project to present The Exonerated, a reading of a play focusing on wrongful convictions. She has also produced for Monroe Theatre Guild, Center Stage Performing Arts, and others.

Meghan's passion project has been studying the marketing of unknown, unconventional theatre pieces in a changing, complex world. She completed a research fellowship with Wolf Brown’s Culture Lab library in 2016, where she created a collection of articles on marketing lesser-known theatre pieces. Her research on the subject is published through Culture Lab, HowlRound, and Arts Journal.. In November of 2017, she appeared on a panel on the subject at the National Arts Marketing Project.

Meghan holds a Master’s of Science in Arts Administration from Drexel University.
